Company History

Since 1984 I have been engaged in the field of Ultra-Precision machining, having held positions of Applications Engineer, Sales and Applications Engineer, European Sales Manager, and International Business Manager within the 'Pneumo' group of Taylor Hobson, in my home town of Leicester, United Kingdom. During this period I gained both a knowledge and interest in Ultra-Precision machining, and the various technologies surrounding it, but more importantly developed a passion for working with both existing and potential customers, through the entire process of their acquiring and assimilating this exciting technology.

Following a tenure of some 16 years with Taylor Hobson Pneumo, in 1997 I found myself moving to the United States to join several former 'Pneumo' colleagues in the formation of Moore Nanotechnology Systems, a start up venture headed by Mr. Len Chaloux and Mr. Tom Dupell, with the support of Moore Tool Inc. Working with Moore Nanotech, and after being part of a new company with all the challenges it faces, I was inspired to set up Focal Dimensions Ltd, which has been active since early 2001 and is based in Quorn, Leicestershire, in the United Kingdom.

A pre-requisite for Focal Dimensions was the ability to continue working in some way with Moore Nanotechnology Systems, and to continue to support a well established and growing customer base in the UK, the rest of Europe, and parts of Asia. A further mandate was that Focal Dimensions would offer additional technologies and know-how for complimentary critical technologies, harnessing them to provide a more complete and efficient point of contact for the customer.

Today, Focal Dimensions acts as a 'Working Partner' to Moore Nanotechnology Systems, FISBA Optik, Contour Fine Tooling, PGE, SIGMA, and DIFFSYS, and plays a key role in supporting the UK & Asia with World Class technologies and know-how. The leading-edge products offered encompass many of the key elements within the process chain of Ultra-Precision manufacturing & optics.
